Voor het eerst sinds ‘Lone Wolf’ uit 2011 houdt Freek de Jonge weer een nieuwjaarsconference. De conference belooft geen klassiek jaaroverzicht te worden, maar een beschouwing van de tijdgeest die ons dwingt trots te zijn op onze boeren en andere oprispingen, maar die vooral oproept om verandering. Een conference waarbij de humor niet zal worden ingezet om verder te polariseren, maar naar verbinding gezocht zal worden op basis van wederzijds begrip voor elkaars tekort, aldus de cabaretier.
“Wat een genot om een nieuwe locatie toe te voegen aan de lange lijst van theaters die ik de afgelopen 50 jaar bezocht heb. Zelden heb ik er zo’n zin in gehad,” aldus Freek de Jonge over zijn samenwerking met Westergas.
De tussen Freek de Jong en de Westergas vormt een mooi voorbeeld van de nieuwe visie van de Westergas, waarbij verschillende vormen van cultuur bij elkaar komen op het terrein.
