De Nationale Museumweek richt de focus op de nationale schatten die ons land bezit. Van moderne kunst tot antieke voorwerpen, ruim 400 verschillende musea tonen hun mooiste werken. Alle musea sluiten zich deze week op hun eigen wijze aan bij het thema: ‘Ontdek samen ons échte goud, dichterbij dan je denkt!’. Dit wordt gedaan door middel van een groot aantal speciale activiteiten zoals lezingen en poëziemiddagen in het Allard Pierson Museum, een Golddigger tour in de Hermitage en Braziliaans carnaval in het Tropenmuseum. Op zondag 14 april vindt de officiële afsluiting van de Nationale Museumweek 2019 plaats met het evenement “Golden Hour” in het Amsterdam Museum, opgezet speciaal voor millennials.
