Op het altijd gezellige Beukenplein in Oost vind je Mississippi Bar & Kitchen, die zijn naam dankt aan de rivier de Mississippi. Deze passeert een groot aantal steden waardoor de keuken in het restaurant wordt beïnvloed. Verwacht een mix van Zuid-Amerikaans soulfood en Tex-Mex gerechten, lekkere cocktails en een groot aanbod (speciaal)bieren. Nog een pluspuntje is het altijd vriendelijke personeel.

Op de kaart bij Mississippi vind je zowel gerechten om te delen als om helemaal voor jezelf te houden. Kiezen tussen voorgerechten als Smokehouse Nachos, Panfried Shrimps, Hush Puppies en Buffalo Hotwings is een opgave op zich. Bijzonder is de Krusty Crocodile Burger met krokodillenvlees en de Jumbo Gumbo, een authentieke Louisiana stoofpot die wordt geserveerd met kip, tijgergarnalen, okra, paprika, uien en rijst. Onze favoriet is de langzaam gegaarde Beef Brisket die wordt geserveerd met boter en wortels van de barbecue. Mocht je na al dit lekkers nog ruimte over hebben, probeer dan de Mississippi Mudcake met oreo, Jack Daniels en chocolade.
